Product Focus - Nano Films

Over the past decade, nanotechnology has been a rapidly growing tool within the field of stretch films. Not only has it revolutionised the way stretch film is produced, but it has also changed the course of the packaging industry / process.

At Hub Packaging, we are delighted to announce that we are now stocking the latest Nano Films using this advanced technology.

What is Nanotechnology, and how is it made?

Nano Films are created using Nanotechnology. They allow for a much thinner, and stronger film to surround larger objects, in turn, a more cost-effective addition to your packaging process.

The production of Nano Film relies on using newly developed technology, and various advanced techniques. The production of Stretch Film depends on binding numerous layers of polymer molecules together, subsequently assembling a more flexible, and long-lasting film.

The intricate process involves the unloading and bonding of polythene, or other polymers into a vacuum, which in turn forms an ultra-thin film. As such, this makes Nano Film an ideal medium for packaging, and your packaging process.

What is the purpose of Nanotechnology, and how can it benefit your business?

As noted above, one of Nano Film’s outstanding qualities is its flexibility, which incredibly does not deplete its strength or resistance. Nano Stretch Film’s flexibility and long-lasting nature reduce both the cost of pallet wrapping and the plastic waste, due to its sheer efficiency and the fact that less film is required to secure a load.

Dually, its flexibility makes it easier to handle than other multi-layered films. Its flexibility is nurtured using additives, which enhance specific properties alike strength and flexibility. Additionally, Nano Film has better stretch and cling properties than other multi-layered films; as such, making it an ideal, and efficient medium to safely secure pallets and other items.

Regarding the securing of pallets; Nano Stretch Film aids load stability, therefore improving product protection.

Key Advantages of Nano Films

  • Stronger, and more flexible than other multi-layered stretch films.
  • Reduces both the amount of film required to wrap a load, and therefore plastic waste.
  • Increased cling and stretch properties, ensuring it is easier to wrap packages securely.

What’s the difference between Nano Films, and regular multi-layered film?

Nano Stretch Film and multi-layered films are similar in many ways, such as they both consist of numerous layers of polythene, or other polymers.

Both Nano Stretch Film, and multi-layered film are formulated by combining the properties of various layers to create a stronger, and more flexible material. The use of multiple layers also means that the lay. s distributed across the film; in turn, reducing the risk of both tearing and puncturing.

Both film’s cling properties help keep it securely wrapped around packages, preventing movement during transit.

However, the key difference between the two is concerning the thickness of the polyethylene/polymer layers. Nano Film has ultra-thin layers on the nanoscale, whilst multi-layered stretch film adopts thicker layers.

With that in mind, Nanotechnology can easily increase the number of layers within the Nano Film, rapidly improving its performance. Thus, giving it an added advantage over multi-layered films.

A typical nano-film layer will comprise a multiple number of layers within the film. Our stock films in 10, 12, and 15 micron are available in a 67-layer film, making it extremely durable and providing outstanding stretch and strength properties. This, combined with all size variations being manufactured with 30% recycled content makes it a great solution for your stretch wrap needs.

Why buy from Hub Packaging?

Making a change in process such as stretch wrapping can often be confusing, primarily because of the range of alternative options available.

At Hub, our aim is to ensure that you are achieving value for money whilst optimising your packaging process to its full potential.

We’ve summarised some points to highlight why you should consider working with us to implement a change in your wrapping process:

  • Several trained consultants are available to carry out on-site wrap audits, at a time and location suited to you.
  • An audit process that will provide you with a full breakdown of the cost of your current process, alongside a comparison of implementing an alternative nanofilm solution, ensuring you can have full clarity and no hidden extra costs.
  • A range of Nano Stretch film options available to suit your pallet wrapping requirements.
  • Products that are available with 30% recycled content, meaning Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) exemption.

How can we help?

At Hub Packaging we now stock nano film in three variations to suit all applications.

In addition to this, we have trained and readily available consultants who can carry out ‘no obligation’ wrap audits, to help you understand the true and accurate cost of wrapping a pallet.

Our consultants can, at your request, visit your premises to perform an audit of your current process using your chosen wrap. An accurate comparison of your current process with an equivalent Nano Film will allow you to gain a greater understanding of the potential benefit of making the switch.
